On Little League International's
website there are TONS of resources, warm-up & practice ideas and healthy snack options to fuel your Little Leaguer on a budget. A couple of important highlights are below, including the
T-Mobile Little League Call-Up Grant, a program dedicated to helping families in need by covering registration fees associated with their local Little League program.
Basic Drills:
Check out the
Backyard Tip section to find warm-up & practice ideas. A simple game of toss improves the basic skill of hand-eye coordination, dexterity, tracking the ball with their eyes, and grip on the ball. This is perfect for young ones; for more experienced kids, a simple spin on the game of toss is each person has a ball, then each person throws their ball at the same time to the other person. Each side tries to catch the ball with their free hand (or with both hands). Start close together and work your way farther apart.
For Parents & Guardians:
The Parents
page of Little League International's website is full of articles, resources & ideas for being a positive role model, creating lifelong memories & developing Major League attitudes in our kids. One article is from the Positive Coaching Alliance website and is entitled
Positivity Amidst Pandemic. It points out that
“...the pandemic can allow our resilience to shine through and show our children how to make the best of even the worst situations.” It further discusses the importance of a positive outlook both on and off the field, encouraging parents to focus on positive reinforcement to help kids improve and supporting kids in a constructive manner.
